Elcides Carlos
é guitarrista, compositor, arranjista, palestrante, professor e pesquisador de jazz. Nasceu no bairro de Chamanculo, onde, ainda cedo, formou os seus primeiros acordes. Como guitarrista, o seu talento já o levou a países como Dinamarca, China, Angola, Zimbabwe, Noruega, Eswatine e África do Sul, tendo já partilhado o palco com Manu Dibango, Hugh Masekela, Jonathan Butler, entre outros.
Seu álbum de estreia, Sense of Presence, lançado em 2022, contou com a colaboração de vários músicos, nacionais e internacionais, entre eles, Deodato Siquir, Cheny Wa Gune, Rosario Giuliani e Ernie Smith. É criador do projecto Jazz nas Comunidades, do podcast Talking Jazz no YouTube, curador do Chamanculo Jazz Experience e fundador da plataforma Bookings e Bandas.

Conversa Musicada
Conversa Musicada is a cultural project conceived by Agência Criativa Vírgula, in partnership with the Escola de Comunicação e Artes (ECA-UEM) and the musician and author Elcides Carlos. The initiative promotes intimate encounters between artists, creators, and the public through open conversations, shared experiences, and live musical performances.
The first edition, held with strong public attendance at the ECA-UEM Auditorium, featured Elcides Carlos as the main guest in a meeting marked by reflections on artistic creation, identity, freedom, and citizenship, accompanied by a live performance by Elcides Carlos alongside the band Eca-Yanga Collective. More than just an event, Conversa Musicada establishes itself as a platform for the promotion of Mozambican cultural production, fostering attentive listening, critical thinking, and the celebration of art as a practice of freedom.

In a trio format, featuring Tony Paco on drums, the project revisits the great classics from the Real Book, reviving landmark works from Swing, Bebop, and Latin Jazz. A celebration of the composers who made the history of the genre.
About The Musicians
Elcides Carlos
Guitarist and composer, with a career marked by performances at festivals in Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe, Denmark, Norway, and China. He has shared the stage with Manu Dibango, Hugh Masekela, and Jonathan Butler. He is the author of the album Sense of Presence (2022), critically acclaimed and featuring internationally renowned artists, and also the author of the book A Mente de Um Grande Guitarrista (The Mind of a Great Guitarist).
Orlanda da Conceição
Mozambican double bassist with solid training from ENM and ECA-UEM. Having been part of projects such as More Big Band, Malhangalene Jazz Quartet, and Likute, she has accumulated experience on stages in Norway, Sweden, and Spain. She combines her stage experience with a strong dedication to teaching.
Tony Paco
Composer, drummer, and percussionist, trained at the University of Cape Town (UCT). His career includes collaborations with national and international artists such as Jonathan Butler, Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Kumalo, Stefon Harris, Israel Houghton, Jimmy Dludlu, Mingas, and Ghorwane. He has performed with these and other artists at some of the major jazz festivals across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
